Frequently Asked Questions
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself or others, therapy can provide a supportive space to explore these feelings. It’s a place to better understand your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and gain insight into what may be holding you back. Therapy is also helpful if you’re navigating a difficult life transition, dealing with trauma, or simply seeking to improve your relationships and emotional well-being. If you’re curious about how therapy could help, I offer consultations to discuss your goals and see if we’d be a good fit.
In our first session, I’ll take the time to listen to your story and what’s currently going on in your life. This is also a space for you to “unload” or do a “word dump”, whatever is on your mind. There’s no judgment here, just a compassionate, non-judgmental environment where you can express whatever you need to share. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you’re hoping to achieve, and I’ll explain my approach to therapy so you know what to expect. This session is also the beginning of our “getting to know each other” phase, which is essential for building rapport and a trusting relationship. It’s important that you feel comfortable, and I’m here to guide you with empathy and respect from the very start.
The length of therapy varies depending on what brings you to therapy and your personal goals. Some clients may find relief relatively quickly, while others may experience a slower, more evolving process as they work through deeper or more complex issues. The therapeutic journey is individualized, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Regardless of the pace, my priority is to support you in reaching your goals in a way that feels right for you. Throughout our work together, we’ll regularly check in about your progress and ensure that therapy is aligned with your needs, so that you feel supported and empowered at every stage of the process.
Yes, couples therapy is one of my specialties and I work with partners to help improve communication, resolve conflicts, and build deeper emotional connections. Whether you’re navigating relationship struggles, life transitions, or trying to reconnect after a difficult period, therapy can help you both develop healthier ways of relating. I draw from a variety of evidence-based modalities, including Relational Life Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy, to help couples create lasting change.
Absolutely. Everything we discuss in therapy is confidential, and I adhere to strict ethical guidelines to ensure your privacy is protected. There are a few exceptions to confidentiality, such as if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, but we will discuss this fully in our first session so you understand your rights and what to expect. My goal is to create a safe, trusting environment where you can feel free to be open and vulnerable.
